At the age of 3 Dean was accepted into London's leading stage school, the world famous ‘SILVIA YOUNG'. Taking lessons in Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Drama and Singing; his talent for dancing was soon picked up on. At the age of 5 Dean appeared on a ‘Royal Variety Performance' with the cast of a leading West End Musical. Television adverts followed, appearances numerous films and television programmes, including an appearance in the famous British soap – EASTENDERS. By the age of 9 Dean had decided to cut back on his stage work and concentrate on Irish Dancing.
Having started at the age of 7, he had won through the grades and in the year was winning major championships. The next three years Dean won every title possible on numerous occasions. There was no title left to win! At the age of 12 Dean was Great Britain Champion, British National Champion, All Scotland Champion, All Ireland Champion, North American Champion and finally the World Champion, winning with a perfect score of 900 out of a possible 900!
At 12 years of age and Dean decided he wanted to have new challenges, so decided to retire from the competitive Irish Dancing scene. He had decided he wanted to be a musician. Having a love for Irish music he went on to play the piano accordion, piano and keyboards. By the time Dean had his 16th birthday, he had won the World Irish Piano Accordion Championships and the All Ireland Fleadh.
At the age of 13 Dean was playing at Feisenna all over the World. After a few years of playing the feisenna circuit, Dean built up a great reputation for himself on the Irish Dancing scene as a Lively and Dynamic Feis Musician. By the age of 16 Dean was travelling all over the globe playing at feisenna for Coimisiun, Comhdhail, CRN and other Dancing Organisations. Besides playing at local feisenna, Dean has also been fortunate enough to be Invited to play at major competitions including The All Irelands & World Championships (An Coimisiun), The All Ireland (An Comhdhail, American Nationals (An Coimisiun) and The British Nationals & Great Britain Championships (An Coimisiun) to name just a few.
Amongst playing at feisenna, Dean has also been working with numerous bands in and around London including, ‘The Main Attraction’ playing keyboards for Irish, Country and Modern Pop and Sean Brady performing hits such as ‘The Thatcher Song’ and ‘Mother England’s Giro.’
At the age of 20, Dean decided to put the dancing shoes back on his feet and started preparing himself to take the TCRG qualification under An Coimisiun. Dean completed the application at the All Ireland Champions in 2009 and was accepted onto the registered exam, which was to be held in Derry later that year. Dean’s hard work and studying paid off and he was delighted to have passed his Teachers exam, which qualified him to Teach Irish Dancing.Dean’s extreme passion for Music and Dance is clearly portrayed through this site and all of his recordings and CD’s. As an accomplished musician Dean will continue to provide the necessary music to meet the needs of the continually changing and modern Irish dance world for many years to come.
